MRS. CHRISTIE HICKEY.

Mrs. Christie Hickey well known Davenport woman, and formerly active in the Women's Relief corps, was found dead Sunday morning by her son, Oliver J. Hickey, at her home, 1421 Main street. Mrs. Hickey lived alone and it was the custom of her son to fix the fire in the morning. When eh entered the bedroom he found her dead. Coroner J.D. Cantwell was called and prounced the cause of death heart disease from which she had been ailing for some time.

In former years Mrs. Hickey was prominently identified with the activities of the Women's Relief corps, being past president of that organization and national aide. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Union Veterans of the Civil war, and was president of that society which was Tent No. 22 of Moline.

During the Spanish-American war she was a leader in organizing aid societies for the soldiers. She was also a member of the Mohassan Caldron.

She was the widow of the late James Hickey who for many years was county overseer of the poor. She was his assistant during his term of office.

Mrs. Hickey has the unusual distinction of being both the daughter and the wife of Civil war veterans.

Born in 1850.

She was born in Pottsville, Pa., Sept. 12, 1850, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Clark. She came to Davenport 45 years ago. On July 4, 1868, she was married to James Hickey. She was a life member of the Methodist church.

Surviving are one son, Oliver J. Hickey, Davenport; one grandson, Morris Hickey; and one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Hood, Los Angeles.

The body was removed to the Horrigan home for funerals and will be taken to the home of her son, Oliver Hickey, 1225 Pershing avenue, this evening. Funeral services will be held there at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, with the Rev. Dr. Frank Court officiating. Burial will be made in Oakdale cemetery.
