WORRY OVER HEALTH ENDS WITH SUICIDE.

Seward W. Tomlinson, Retired Walcott Farmer, Takes Own Life.

Seward W. Tomlinson, 71, 2213 Eastern avenue, ended his life this morning by shooting himself with a shotgun while in a garage at the rear of his home. He had been in ill health for some time and several weeks ago suffered a severe attack of influenza. He had been under the care of a physician and was believed to have been despondent and temporarily deranged when he took his life.

His son, Wayne, found the elder Tomlinson lying on the floor of the garage shortly before noon. He left the house about 10:30. A 12-gauge shotgun was found lying under his boy. A charge of shot entered in his head.

Mr. Tomlinson was born at Mount Carroll, Ill., March 23, 2857 (typo in print should read 1857) and was married there on May 26, 1880 to Miss Emma Bennett. Seventeen years ago he came to Scott county and became engaged in farming near Walcott, reitring three years ago and moving to Davenport.

Surviving besides the widow are two sons, G. L. and Wayne B. Tomlinson, both of Davenport; one brother D. K. Tomlinson of Scotland, S.D.

The body was removed to the Hill & Frederick's mortuary and will be sent to Mount Carroll and services held at Argo, Ill., with burial in Argo cemetery.
