John Holst and Peter Wiese, Relatives, Pass Away Within Span of a Few Hours Wednesday.

John C. Holst, 95, and Peter Wiese, 65, both pioneer residents of Scott county and father-in-law and son-in-law died Wednesday within a few hours of each other. Both were known in the farming communities of Scott County.

Mr. Holst passed at his home in Davenport, 929 West Locust street, at 7 o'clock Wednesday night after a month's illness. Mr. Wiese died very suddenly while on a visit with his daughter, Mrs. Ralph Mohr, ? and one-half miles northeast of Eldridge, at noon yesterday. He'd apparently been in the best of health and his sudden death comes as a shock to his many relatives and friends.

Holst.

John C. Holst was born in Schleswig, Germany, July 7, 1832. He came to America and Scott county in 18?2 where he was united in marriage to Miss Bendixen who preceded him in death in the hear of 1862. He again married in 1865 to Miss Catherine Boyers at Davenport. The couple resided on a farm near Butler township until the year of 189? when they retired and moved to a smaller farm in the same township where Mrs. Holst preceded him in death on May 12, 1916. He then moved to Davenport and has since made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Peter Schneckloth.

Surviving are two sons, George W. Butler township; and Herman A. Eldridge, Ia;, two daughters, Mrs. Peter Schneckloth, Davenport, and Mrs. Fred Hebbel, Glidden, Ia., ?8 grandchildren and 46 great grand children, Two daughters, Mrs. Lena Wiese, the wife of Peter Wiese--who died in November of 1927, and Mrs. Mary Boeh, preceded him in death. One daughter also died in infancy.

The body was removed to the Runge mortuary where funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Interment will be in Pine Hill cemetery.

Wiese.

Peter Wiese was born in Butler township Scott county, on Aug 8, 1862, and was a life resident. He was united in marriage to Miss Lena Holst on Feb. 16, 1887. The couple resided on the Weise Pine Ridge homestead which is six miles northeast of Eldridge. They resided on this farm until 1920 when they retired and moved to Davenport.

For more than 25 years Mr. Weise served as township clerk for Butler township. He was well known throughout the county and had made many friends who will regret to hear of his sudden death. His wife, Mrs. Lena Wiese preceded him in death in November of 1927.

Surviving are two daughter, Mrs. C.C. Krambeck, R.R. No. 1, Davenport; and Mrs. Ralph Mohr, Eldridge: his aged mother, Mrs. Lena Wiese of Davenport, two sisters, Mrs. John Arp, Eldridge; and Mrs. L Moeller, Walcott, Ia.; and four brothers, J.H. Wiese, Davenport, Adolph N., New Liberty, Ia.; Julius N. Bennett,Ia.; and Rudolph J. Eldridge. Two sons, Harry and Walter Wiese, preceded him in death in 1918, and one brother, Gustave Wiese, in 1924.

The body was removed to the Runge mortuary and will be returned to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ralph Mohr, 2 1/2 miles northeast of Eldridge, Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock where funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Pine Hill cemetery.
