Muscatine Journal, Mon. November 22, 1976

James S. Figg, 68, 1904 Orange St., died at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Muscatine General Hospital following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Grace Lutheran Church. Pastors Don Harding and Carl Benander will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Tuesday.

James Figg was born Nov. 4, 1908 at Muscatine, the son of James S. and Eva Butcher Figg. He was a life resident of the area. He married Dorothy Callaway July 14, 1934, at Muscatine.

He was the retired manager of Midwest Culvert Co. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and the Elks Lodge.

Surviving are his wife, a son, John T. of Davenport; a daughter, Mrs. Sam (Nancy) Snyder of Muscatine, five grandchildren, three brothers, Paul and Ralph of Muscatine, and Harold of Austin, Tex., and three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Umlandt, Mrs. Raymond(Bea)Korschot and Mrs. L. D. (Helen) Krueger, all of Muscatine.

He was preceded in death by the parents, two brothers and a sister.
