MRS. S. HANSEN DEAD; CAME TO CITY IN 1865

Was the Wife of the Late Henry Hansen, Retired Farmer

Mrs. Sarah Cavanaugh Hansen, wife of the late Henry Hansen, well known retired Scott county farmer, passed away Tuesday night at 10:30 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William A. Kieffert, 2253 Jackson avenue. Her death terminated an illness of one years' duration. She was 78 years old.

Born in Queens County, Ireland, March 25, 1848, Mrs. Hansen came to the United States and Direct to Davenport in 1865, and was here united in marriage to Mr. Hansen on April 19, 1876, at St. Joseph's church, the Monsignor A. Nierman performing the ceremony. The couple resided on a farm in Scott county until 1892, when Mr. Hansen retired and they moved to Davenport. He preceded her in death on November 26, 1914.

Surviving are two daughters, Miss Ann Hansen and Mrs. William F. Kieffert, both of Davenport, and one grandson, LaVerne Kieffert.

She was a devout mother and an ardent member of her church and was very well known in the community.
The body was removed to the Fred N. Ruhl funeral home from where it will be taken to the home of Mrs. Kieffert on Thursday afternoon. The funeral will be held from there at 8:30 a.m. Interment will be in the family lot in St. Marguerite's cemetery.
