MRS. C. GAINEY, OLD RESIDENT HERE SUCCUMBS

Double Pneumonia Causes Death of Well Known Davenport Woman

Mrs. Catherine Gainey, widow of the late Patrick T. Gainey, died at Mercy hospital at 4:30 a.m. today, following an illness of three months which complicated into pneumonia. The residence is at 1220 Adams street. She was taken to the hospital last Friday.

A daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Moore, Mrs. Gainey was born in Providence, R.I., June 16, 1856, and came to this city with her parents at the age of ten year. Her husband died July 20 last.

Mrs. Gainey was a well known resident here and was beloved by a host of friends and acquaintances. She had been a member of Sacred Heart cathedral for the past 60 years. Two sons and a daughter preceded her in death.

Surviving are two brothers, John and Michael Moore, both of Davenport, and three sisters, Mrs. J.S. Ames of Pamarilla, Texas; Mrs. M.W. Martin of DeWitt and Miss Margaret Moore, at home.

The body was removed to the Fred N. Ruhl funeral home and will be taken to the residence Tuesday morning. The funeral will be held from there at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday to Sacred Heart cathedral at 9 a.m. Interment will be in St. Marguerite's cemetery.
