Mrs. Mary J. Kelley, nee Egan, wife of the late John Kelley, who died April 27, 1896, passed away at 5:15 this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.A. Carroll, after an illness of six months' duration.

She was born in Ireland, May 30, 1850, and came to America at the age of 14, living four years with her sister in Vermont. At the age of 18 she came to Davenport, where she was married to John Kelley on June 1, 1875. The ceremony was performed by Bishop Cosgrove at the old St. Marguerite's church. The couple later removed to Stuart, Ia. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Kelley returned to Davenport.

Mrs. Kelley was a devout member of the Sacred Heart cathedral, and had many friends in that parish. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. J.A. Carroll and one granddaughter, Mary Catherine Carroll.

The funeral will be held Thursday morning from the home at 8:30 with services at 9 o'clock at Sacred Heart cathedral where a solemn requiem high mass will be celebrated. Interment will be in St. Marguerite's cemetery.
