M'CARTY

On his farm four miles north of Holbrook, Monday, shortly before midnight after an illness of some duration of dropsy occurred the death of John M'Carty formerly of this city. Mr. McCarty was born in Ireland 81 years ago last December and came to Davenport fifty years ago. He resided here until 1870 when he moved to his farm near Holbrook. He will be remembered by many of the older residents of this city as a man of sterling qualities. Honest and genial he had a host of friends here.

He is survived by his sons John, who lives in Dakota, Michael, Joseph and Jerry of Holbrook. The remains will arrive over the C.R.I. & P. Tuesday and the funeral services will take place at 9 tomorrow morning from Sacred Heart cathedral. Interment at St. Mary's cemetery.
