OBITUARY.

SCHMIDT.

Last Thursday occurred the death of Charles A. Schmidt at Mercy Hospital. Deceased was born in Grossenfield, Schleswig, Holstein, seventy-eight years ago. For the past forty-three years he has been a resident of Scott county, living on a farm about five miles northwest of Davenport. In 1886 he gave his farm to his son, H.W. Schmidt and moved into the city living at 2002 West Second street. He was one of the patriots who fought in the war of 1848, and also one of those who came to this country later. He came to this country in 1853. His friends belonging to the Kampf Genossen Verein will preside at the funeral. The funeral will be held this morning, with interment in Blue Grass.
