OBITUARY.

BLAKEMORE.

Yesterday morning at 10 o'clock after a brief illness from pneumonia, occurred the death of Thomas V. Blakemore, one of Davenport's old and most respected citizens. His death was quite sudden and almost entirely unexpected until a few hours before he passed away, man of his intimate friends not being aware of his illness. The deceased was born in England near the city of London in the year 1810 and when a young man came to this country and settled in this city in the early forties. He was a sign painter by trade and until recent years was connected with the C.R.I. & P. shops here. Mr. Blakemore was quite a prominent Odd Fellow and at the time of his death was grand chancellor of the Scott lodge in this city and was one of the honorary members of the organization when it was founded in 1842. He was also a member of Davenport lodge No. 37, A.F. and A.M., and was the oldest mason in the city, having united with the order Feb. 18, 1852. His aged wife and four children, Dr. M.G. and W.F. Blakemore, Mrs. W.W. Brown and Florence Blakemore, all residents of this city, survive him. The arrangements for the funeral will be announced later.
