OBITUARY.
BOWMAN.
Dr. E.H. Bowman, one of the pioneers of Rock Island county, died Thursday at his home at Andalusia. He was taken ill about a week ago with pneumonia, and his system, weakened by old age, succumbed to the attack.
Dr. Bowman was born in Franklin, Pa., August 25, 1816, and became a resident of Rock Island county in 1843. He served for three years during the late war as surgeon of the 27th Illinois infantry. Returning from the war he settled on his farm near Andulusia. He has held various offices in Rock Island county and was for three and a half years, beginning in 1879, agent for the Pawnee tribe of Indiana. He was well known and respected throughout the county.
The doctor is survived by his wife and the following children: E.H. Bowman, Jr., of Rock Island, Dr. A.W. Bowman, of Davenport, Dr. S.C. Bowman, at Bennett, Iowa, Miss Annette Bowman, of Moscow, Idaho, and Mrs. W.R. Little, at Andalusia. A son, M.B. Bowman died a few years ago in New Mexico.
