Obituary

OWEN.

On Wednesday evening June 1, at 4:45 o'clock, occurred the death of Mrs. Nellie Owen, wife of W.E. Owen, at her home in Long Grove. Six weeks before her, her oldest child, Paul, died of diphtheria, and in nursing him she contracted the disease from the effects of which she died. She showed true Christian fortitude in her long illness. She leaves two sons, Carl aged five years, and Keith, an infant six months old. Her husband and her mother have the sympathy of the entire community. Each one considers her death a personal loss and she will be missed by all who knew here: her happy disposition and warm heart endeared her to all, and her high mental attainments made her foremost in intellectual pursuits. She lived and died a devoted Christian and was ever ready and wishing to help in church work. The funeral took place at three o'clock Thursday afternoon at Long Grove attended by many sympathizing friends. Mr. Howe, pastor of the Christian church conducted the services. There was a profusion of flowers at her grave: she was an active worker in the Christian Endeavor and each member dropped a bouquet into the grave. She was left sleeping there among the flowers to await the resurrection morn.
