Obituary
Benedict T. Kennedy.
Benedict T. Kennedy, aged 62 years died very suddenly at his home on Harrison street near Sixteenth street, yesterday at just about noon. Mr. Kennedy has been ill for nearly two months but was improving and no one had any idea that the dread messenger of death was near. During the forenoon he had been up and about the house and had lain down to rest, after having spoken to an attendant in an adjoining room. His only daughter, Miss Emma Kennedy, a teacher in school No. 8, came in shortly after 12 o'clock, inquired as to her father's condition and was told he appeared better. On going into the room she was greatly shocked to find that he was sleeping the sleep of death.
Benedict Kennedy came to Davenport in 1857 and has lived here ever since, a respected citizen. His wife is dead and he lived with his only daughter, Miss Emma. Her grief at the sad loss was very great. She is now left alone in the world. The funeral announcement will be made tomorrow.
