Charles Staelens
Services for Charles Staelens, 87, a resident of Moline Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, formerly of Davenport, will be 11:30am today at DeRoo Funeral Home and noon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. He died Monday at the center. He retired in 1964 as a mechanic at Bendix Corp., Davenport, where he had been employed nine years.
Mr. Staelens married Gertrude Gunther in 1921 in Bellevue, Iowa. She died in 1981. Visitation is 10:30-11:30 today at the funeral home. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 26, Davenport, and sang for 12 years with the Davenport Chordbusters Barbershop Chorus.
Survivors include nephews, James F. and John DeDecker, both of Moline, and other nephews and nieces in Iowa.
