Princeton, Iowa - Doris M. Gilbert, 76, Princeton, died Monday, Dec 30, 2002, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at New Life Community Church, LeClaire, Iowa, where she was a member. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.
visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday at McGinnis, Chambers & Sass Funeral Home, Bettendorf.
She was born June 3, 1926, in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of Floyd M. and Lois Edna (Fordham) Hahn. She married John R. Gilbert in Davenport on May 5, 1943.
In early years, Doris was employed in the Tea Room at the former Petersen-Harned-Von Maur and the Old Mill Ice Cream Shop, both of Davenport, and the former Dorthea's Cafe, Riverdale, Iowa.
She taught Sunday school at the church for many years and also served as a Missionette leader.
She enjoyed roller skating and bowling in her earlier years, and recently loved feeding the birds and wildlife, eating out at Bishop's at Duck Creek and McDonalds. She was an immaculant housekeeper and enjoyed keeping her house clean and orderly.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, John; her daughers and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Michael Wolff, Dori and Dan Lingle and Lois Ann and Tom Fletcher, all of Bettendorf, and Susan Morris, Princeton; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; her sister and brother-in-law, Flora Ann and Arnold Snyder, Bettendorf; her brothers and sisters-in-law Floyd D. and Frances Hahn, Hampton, Ill and Donald M. Hahn and Roger L. and Patty Hahn, all of Davenport; and her special friend, Allie the kitty cat.
Doris was preceded in death by her infant son, Carey Lee; and by her parents.
