Obituary for George A Freund

George A. Freund died at 11:30 p.m. Sunday at Mercy hospital after an illness of two years duration.

He was born in Scott county on Jan. 8, 1858 and had been a resident of Davenport for the last 48 years. He had been living at the home of his son, Paul Freund, 509 East Rusholme street. He was united in marriage to Miss Catherine Cawiezell in 1882 by the late Msgr. A. Nierman at St. Joseph's church. His wife preceded him in death Aug. 18. 1922.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Benevolent society and a life resident of that parish. He was also a member of the East Davenport German Sick Relief Society.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Henry Mortier, Rock Island; and Mrs. Frank Nelson, Davenport; three sons, Paul, George and Julius Freund, all of Davenport; one brother, John B. Freund, Scott county; one half-brother, Ed Wachter, Davenport; two half-sisters, Mrs. Rudolph Schebler, Davenport; and Mrs. Carrie Hesnard of California; and seven grandchildren.

The body was removed to the Fred N. Ruhl funeral home and will be taken to the home of his son, Paul Freund, this evening, from where the funeral will be held Wednesday at 8:30 a.m., with services at 9 o'clock at St. Joseph's church. Interment will be made in Holy Family cemetery.

The Rev. George Giglinger and members of the St. Joseph's Benevolent society will recite the rosary at the home at 8 o'clock Tuesday evening.

The Freund Funeral.

The funeral of George E. Freund was held at 8:30 a.m. today from the home of his son, Paul Freund, 503 East Rusholme street with services at St. Joseph's church at 9 o'clock. The Rev. George Giglinger celebrated a requiem high mass, pronounced the burial absolution, preached the funeral sermon and officiated at the committal services in Holy Family cemetery.

The pallbearers were all members of the St. Joseph's Benevolent society. They were Martin Schupp, Ferdinand Heim, Nicholas Pauly, William Seigel, and S. Hartmann.

Five Children Will Share in Freund Estate

Property of the late George A. Freund, who died April 8, will be divided among five children, Carry, Paul, George, Julius and Agnes Freund, under the terms of the will filed in district court for probate.

Paul Freund is named executor, Jebens & Buienshoen are the attorneys.
