Mrs. C. Lavery, Life Resident, Called to Rest

Succumbs Sunday at Family Home After a Long Illness.

Mrs. Catherine T. Lavery, 64, a life resident of Davenport, died at 10 o'clock Sunday night at the family home, 2830 Iowa street, after an illness of six months.

Mrs. Lavery was born in Davenport, Jun 17, 1865. She received her education here and was married to William H. Lavery in St. Mary's church by the late Rt. Rev. J. P. Ryan on Nov. 23, 1885.

For many years she was active in church affairs of St. Mary's parish. More recently she has taken a keen interest in the activities of St. Paul the Apostle church where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary society.

Surviving besides the husband are two daughters, Mrs. A. H. Hiegel and Miss Anna Lavery of Davenport; two brothers, Thomas Burns of Rock Island, and James Burns of Mt. Pleasant, Ia.; and four grandchildren, Catherine, Robert, Mary and William Hiegel. A son preceded her in death several years ago, a sister nine months ago.

The body was removed to the Halligan Funeral Home and will be returned to the residence late this afternoon. The funeral will be held from there at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday with services at 9 o'clock at St. Paul the Apostle church. Burial will be made in St. Marguerite's cemetery.

The Lavery Funeral

The funeral of Mrs. Catherine T. Lavery was held this morning from the family home, 2830 Iowa street, with a solemn requiem high mass at St. Paul the Apostle church at 9 o'clock.

The Rev. C. J. Donohoe was the celebrant, the Rev. E. M. O'Connor, deacon, and the Rev. L. M. Boyle subdeacon. The Rev. C. J. Donohoe pronounced the burial absolution and preached the funeral sermon. The Rev. L. M. Boyle officiated at the committal services in St. Marguerite's cemetery.

At the conclusion of the services Mrs. O. D. Doran sang "Mother Dearest, Mother Fairest."

Pallbearers were H. J. Toher, R. C. Cresswell, James J. Lamb, George Thompson, and John C. Crook of Chicago.
