Death Takes Mrs. J.A. Volz of this City

Mrs. Genevieve A. Volz, wife of Joseph F. Volz, 616 East Sixth street, died at 4:10 o'clock Saturday afternoon at Mercy hospital after an illness of 10 days. Mrs. Volz was a native and a lifelong resident of this city. She was a kindly and benevolent character and a host of friends thruout (sic) the city will join with the bereaved family in mourning her loss.

Mrs. Volz, who was formerly Miss Genevieve Lillis, was born Jan. 6, 1864, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Lillis, pioneer residents of the city. She was educated in St. Margaret's parochial school and the Immaculate Conception academy. Her marriage to Joseph Volz occured in the Sacred Heart cathedral and was performed by the then rector, Rev. James Davis, now bishop of the diocese. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary society of the cathedral parish and of the local branch of the Women's Catholic Order of Forresters.

The widower, two sons, William J. of Albany, N.Y. and Charles E. at home, and a daughter, Helen G. at home; a brother, William M. Lillis and two sisters, Mrs. Thomas F. Halligan and Mrs. M. J. Kinnally, all of Davenport, survive.

Funeral services will be held at 8:30 Monday morning in Sacred Heart Cathedral. Interment will be made in St. Marguerite's cemetery.
