In 1860 she came to Buffalo, and in 1872 she became proprietor of the City hotel, which she retained thirty-two years.

Mrs. Herbert was 60 years old last May, and is survived by five children; George, Hugo, Edith, Mrs. John Waspi and Mrs. John Brownfield, and five grandchildren, Chas. & Anna Waspi, George & Norma Herbert and Herbert Brownfield; also by three sisters, Caroline Renford [should be Renfer] of Springville, Mrs. C. A. Johnson of Spring Grove and Frances Taylor of Nebraska, and by two brothers, Louis and Henry Taylor of Spring Grove.
