(The Mirror "Reflecting Mercer County" Mercer, Missouri December 20, 1994)

OLA RAGAN (Mercer) ... Osa Ola Ragan, daughter of Albert Sydney and Birdie May [Farris] Black, was born in Mercer, April 17, 1902, and died December 13, 1994, at the Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton, at the age of 92 years.

Ola was united in marriage to Elvin Homer Ragan November 7, 1932. Elvin preceded her in death October 16, 1974. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Gladys Ragan; two half-sisters, Eula Wulf and Blanche Norris; and by a half-brother, Frank Black. She is survived by her sister, Rosa Ragan, of the Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton; a half-sister, Frances Tena Meier, of Bettendorf, IA; and by several nieces and nephews.

Ola was raised by her grandparents, William and America Farris, and after her mother died when Ola was two years of age. She attended school in Mercer, and was a member of the Mercer Assembly of God Church. She and Elvin lived most of their married lives in Davenport, IA, where Ola worked for several years as a waitress. In 1946, they returned to their Mercer County farm near Goshen, later moving to Mercer where Ola lived until entering the nursing home in October of 1990.

Funeral services were held Thursday, December 15, 1994, at 1:00 p.m. at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Princeton, with elder James W. Taff officiating. Burial in the Middlepoint Cemetery, west of Mercer.
