DIED

JENNEY

In this place on the 14th inst., Mr. Leonard T. Jenney, aged 27 years. In his death this community has lost a worthy citizen, and an aged father and mother in a distant part of the country are deprived of a support upon whom they have leaned in years past.

WILLIS

In Rockingham, Nov. 8th, after a sickness of two weeks, Mrs. Elizabeth, wife of Mr. John Willis, aged 44 years. Mrs. Willis was a native of Pennsylvania, but until 1839, when with her companion she removed to Iowa, she has resided most of the time in Zanesville, Ohio. Possessed in an eminent degree, of those benevolent and amiable traits, which ever won confidence and affection, she lived as she died, in the esteem of all who knew her. But more than this, she was an intelligent, conscientious, and devoted Christian. Emphatically was hers, the path of the just, that shineth more and more until the perfect day. Few valued Christian privileges more highly, or derived greater benefit and consolation from their attendance. All her preparation for death was made while in health. Disease first developed itself in delirium; and ever after, she was alike insensible to her sufferings, and the agonizing solicitude of friends around. She gave no parting message-left no last farewell. But her life and death reiterated the solemn mandate of our Saviour and our Judge, “Be ye therefore ready also; for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not. Blessed are the dead which die in the lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them.”
