Floyd J. Sailor, 104, a resident of the Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island, died Thursday, June 21, 2007 at the center.

Visitation is 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island, where a Masonic service will be conducted at 7 p.m. by Trio Lodge 57 A.F. & A.M., Rock Island. Private graveside services will be Monday at Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the Rock Island Park Board or to a favorite charity.

Mr. Sailor was born Sept. 26, 1902, in Mishawaka, Ind., the son of James and Wilhelmina Wilke Sailor. He married Esther M. Palmer, Dec. 4, 1926, in Gary, Ind. She died Nov. 26, 1993.
Floyd moved to Gary, Ind., in 1924 and worked in the steel mills until joining the Metropolitan Insurance Company in 1930. He retired from Metropolitan in 1966.

He was a member of Trio Lodge #57 A.F. & A.M., Rock Island, and was a Master Mason for 76 years. Floyd was a 32nd degree Mason since 1954 with the Valley of South Bend, Ind. He was a former member of Broadway Presbyterian Church and currently a member of Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church. Floyd played golf until he was 92 years old and enjoyed fishing in Northern Wisconsin. He was proud of his large family and of his age.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Deloros and D W Young, Rock Island; grandchildren (and spouses), Nancy (Larry) Jacobsen, Davenport, Patricia (Dennis) Heggen, Rock Island, DeWitt (Susan) Young, Rock Island, Susan (Dean) Hooks, Kirkwood, Mo., and Kristin (Keith) Sanders, Rock Island; and 12 great-grandchildren.
