BURIED TOGETHER
Mr. and Mrs. Schwartz Buried in One Grave

Sunday occurred the death of Mrs. Anna Schwartz, wife of Christian Schwartz, an old resident of Scott county, at the homestead on the farm near Mt. Joy. The cause of her death was the dread malady la grippe. Mr. Schwartz, at the time of his wife's death, was very low with the same disease, and asked that his wife's funeral be deferred for a few days. He said he felt the he would soon join her in the great beyond. Yesterday afternoon he breathed his last. Mr. and Mrs. Schwartz came to this country from Germany in 1852, and first settled in New Holstein, Wis. After living there for twelve years they came to Scott county and settled on a farm near Mt. Joy, living there until their death. There never was a brighter happier home, and to the last, the old people, Mrs. Schwartz was 71 years of age and her husband had reached the ripe old age of 82, retained their cherry, genial dispositions that made them friends all through life.

Three children survive, Mrs. August Vost, of Jasper county, Claus on the old homestead and Peter, postmaster at Eldridge.

The double funeral was held this morning from the residence and was largely attended.

The funeral oration was delivered at the grave by Gustav Donald and interment was made at Pine Hill in a double grave, in accordance with the wish expressed by Mr. Schwartz upon his death bed.
