DOUBLE RITES: Heart Ailment Is Fatal

Double funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Runge Chapel for a Davenport woman and her son. She died 13 hours after being notified her son had been killed in an automobile accident.
Mrs. Harriet Wilsey, 47, of 1005 W. 3rd St. Davenport, died at 7:15 p.m. Monday in Mercy Hospital. Her son, Willis, 22 was killed shortly after 6 a.m. Monday in an automobile-truck collision near Rock Falls, Ill.
EXTENDED ILLNESS
Mrs. Wilsey's death followed an extended illness. She was admitted to the hospital at 1:45 p.m. Monday, five hours after being notified of the tragedy involving her son. She had been suffering from heart ailment for the last three years and had been released from the hospital about a week ago.
Following the double services in the chapel Thursday afternoon, burial for Mrs. Wilsey will take place at Oakdale Cemetery, while interment rites for her son will be held in the National Cemetery at Rock Island Arsenal.
Willis, a Navy vetern of the Korean war, had been working as a typist in Washington, D.C. until several weeks ago when he returned home upon receiving word that his mother was taken ill. For the last two weeks he had been employed by the Times Cafeteria. Last week, he took leave of absence from his job in order that he might pick up his car which he left in Ohio. On the return trip, his car veered into the path of an oncoming semi-trailer truck and he was killed instantly.
SURVIVORS
Surviving Mrs. Wilsey are her husband Edward T. Wilsey; six daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Emmer, Mrs. Cynthia Mae Rodenberg, Mrs.Geraldine Bailey, Mrs. Betty Van Buskirk and Florence and Maxine Wilsey, all of Davenport. a son, Clyde in the Navy; 10 grand-children; two sisters, Mrs. Marie Evans and Mrs. Mary Sparrowgrove and two brothers, Edward Busch and Charles Rix, all of Davenport. She was preceded in death by one son and four grand-children.
She was born Jan. 29, 1908, in Galesburg and came to Davenport when a child and attended schools here. She married Edward T. Wilsey in Rock Island Aug. 12, 1927. She was of Lutheran faith and a member of the Salvation Army.
