Schroeder

Death occurred to John Henry Schroeder, retired farmer of Scott county, Sunday morning at 7:15 o’clock at his residence, 730 W. Sixteenth street. His death terminated a short illness.

The deceased was born in Erfurt, Saxony, Germany, on Sept. 13, 1840, and received his education in the schools there. He came to the United States in 1865, direct to Scott county, where he first was occupied as a cabinet maker, and later entered the carpenter and contracting business. Many of the farm homes of Scott county were built by Mr. Schroeder. In 1888 he gave up the contacting business and took a farm in the county, from which he retired to private life in 1906, establishing his home in Davenport. He was united in marriage to Miss Minna Hoffmann on Jan. 30, 1871, in Davenport.

Surviving besides his wife are one daughter, Lizzie Schroeder at home, and two sons, Gustav A. Schroeder at home and Rudolph Schroeder, president of the Buffalo Savings bank.

Funeral services will be held from the late home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Rev. Carl Holterman will have charge of the services at the home and at the interment which will occur in Pine Hill cemetery.

The family request that friends please omit flowers.

The Schroeder Funeral

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for John Henry Schroeder from his residence, 730 West Sixteenth street. Rev. Carl Holterman officiated at the home and at the burial services in Pine Hill cemetery.

Pallbearers were John Ehlers, Otto Thode, N. J. Ruefer, John Druehl, F. F. Kruse and Paul Nicholas.
