Miss Murray Dies After a Long Illness
Well Known Local Woman Succumbs at 2:15 This Afternoon
Miss Anna C. Murray, 1118 Tremont avenue, died at her home at 2:15 o’clock this afternoon following an illness of three months’ duration. She has been in poor health for five years.
The deceased is a member of a well-known Davenport family. The obituary and funeral announcement will be published in the Democrat of Tuesday night.

Anna C. Murray died Monday afternoon at 2:15 o’clock at the family home, 1118 Tremont avenue. Death followed an illness of the past three months altho she had been ailing for the past five years.
The decedent was born March 23, 1876 at DeWitt, Iowa, and has been a resident of Davenport for the past 25 years. She was a member of the Lady of Lourdes circle of the Daughters of Isabella, American Legion auxiliary, Christ Child society, missionary Association of the Catholic Women, and of the Altar and Rosary society of the Sacred Heart cathedral. She has always taken an active part in all charitable work and was a member of a large and prominent Davenport family.
Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Lorah A. Murray, five sisters, Dorothy E., Lorena C., at home, Mary S., Theresa V. of Des Moines, and Margaret of Evansville, Ill., five brothers, Thomas J., John L., and Leo A., all of Davenport, Michael F. of St. Cloud, Minn., and William J. of Joliet, Ill. Her father preceded her in death five years ago.
The funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 8:30 o’clock from the home to the Sacred heart cathedral at 9 o’clock, and interment will take place in St. Marguerite’s cemetery.

The funeral of Miss Anna C. Murray was held this morning from the family home, 1118 Tremont avenue, to the Sacred Heart cathedral at 9 o’clock. Rev. Joseph Wagner was celebrant of solemn requiem high mass, Rev. J. P. Stahl, deacon, Rev. J. J. Welch, sub deacon and Rev. Paul D. Moore, master of ceremonies.
Rev. J. J. Welch, assisted by the other priests, pronounced the burial absolution. Members of the Altar and Rosary societies attended the services in a body. The church was filled with friends and relatives.
Pallbearers were Frank Sullivan, Frank Skelly, P. M. Sadler, Luther Franzein, Michael Dailey and Dr. C. V. McCormack.
The honorary escort of the Daughters of Isabella were Helena Mitchell, Mrs. Gertrude Connell, Mrs. John Bishop, Carrie Huschke, Mrs. A. Mollenbeck, Nell Hassett, Mary Ryan and Mrs. Thresa Watterson.
Rev. Paul D. Moore officiated at the committal services held in St. Marguerite’s cemetery.
Among the many relatives and friends attending the services from out of the city were Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Sullivan, Mrs. James Spainand and Burt Sullivan, of Welton, Ia., Mrs. Michael Driscoll of Riggs, Ia., Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Tiernan, Frank T. Tiernan, Mrs. Lawrene Flannery and Mr. & Mrs. John Montoford and family of DeWitt, Ia., Mrs. Leo Kelly of Milwaukee, M. Conwell of Lyons, Ia., Miss Sue Tiernan of Scranton, Ia., and Miss Isabelle Bowlin of Scranton, Ia.
