Kettelsen

Mrs. Christine Kettelsen, nee Reimers, died on Friday evening at Dixon, age 81 years. Mrs. Kettelsen was the highly esteemed mother-in-law of Hon. Ernst Mueller of Butler township.

The deceased was born in Dreier, May 1, 1812, and she was married there in 1838. She came with her husband and nine children to this country in 1861. The family settled on a farm in Butler township and soon acquired another in Liberty township. In the early 70’s, Mr. and Mrs. Kettelsen moved to Dixon.

There survive to mourn her loss five sons, Hans, Christian, Peter, Thomas and Henry Kettelsen, and three daughters, Mrs. Eichner of Davenport, Mrs. Ernst Mueller of Butler township and Mrs. Peter Koch of Davenport.

Mrs. Kettelsen was remarkably healthy and vigorous, and it was only about three weeks before her death she began to fail. Her illness developed into a case of the grippe, which finally proved fatal.

The funeral took place this afternoon at 2 o’clock, in Dixon, and Mr. Gustav Donald delivered the funeral address.
