The surviving members of this gallant regiment in which many Jackson County boys went to the front and fought for their country, held a pleasant reunion at Davenport on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week. The ladies of that city spread a fine lunch for the veterans on Wednesday, and there was an abundance of pleasant reminiscence and oratory during the reunion. An address of welcome was made by Mayor J. C. Bills, to which Col. C. C. Horton eloquently responded. Col. J. P. Sanford delivered the formal oration of the occasion, and Major Henry O’Connor entertained the boys with a witty and eloquent speech. A permanent organization of the regiment was effected. The Jackson County veterans in attendance were: I. W. Harmon, R. B. Springer, A. W. Flathers, L. W. Usher, R. N. Woods, D. K. Cheeny, W. S. Belden, Maquoketa; M. H. Pierce, Iron Hill; T. M. Hamilton, R. F. McMeans, R. M. Gibson, S. M. Gibson, Andrew; J. C. Thompson, A McDonald, W. C. Morden, James McDonald, M. D. Blank, Fulton; Geo. W. Kelsall, Canton; J. N. Boyd, Bellevue.
