Henry Vollmer-

Davenport has a “kid” for a mayor, only 25 years old. Awful, isn’t it. His name is Henry Vollmer. He was distributing clerk of the house of representatives, at Washington, before he was 21 years old. He was also president of the Henry Boies club of Davenport. He is a bred lawyer and the junior partner of ex-Senator Schmidt of Scott County. A very few men are born poets; a great many are born politicians-some are self made.
