Mary S. Thies was born on May 4, 1905, at Odebolt, Iowa, to Joseph and Ann Thies. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Martin Catholic Church in Odebolt. On June 7, 1922, Mary was united in marriage to William Lunkenheimer at St. Martin Catholic Church in Odebolt. They lived in Odebolt all their lives. Mary was a housewife and member of the Ladies Society of St. Martin.

Mrs. Lunkenheimer passed away on June 22, 1995, at Twilight Acres in Wall Lake at the age of 90. Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 24, 1995, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Martin Catholic Church with Fr. Walter Bruch officiating. Ushers were Norman Olberding and Paul Dinges. Music was provided by congregational singing and organist - Beth Pudenz. Casket attendants were Bill Hott, Ron Hott, Don Miller, Dan Knobbe, Bob Thies, and Don Thies. Burial was in the St. Martin Cemetery at Odebolt with arrangements by Farber and Otteman Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Survivors are son, Sylvester (Lukie) and wife Betty of Odebolt; daughter, Adeline and her husband Phillip Hott of Storm Lake; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Mary Thies of Sioux City.
