Anthony "Tony" Hoelscher
August 26, 1959 - March 27, 2020Anthony “Tony” Hoelscher, age 60, of Odebolt, Iowa, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2020, at his residence of Odebolt, Iowa.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, August 29, 2020, at the Odebolt Community Center of Odebolt, Iowa. The Christensen - Van Houten Funeral Home of Odebolt, Iowa, is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
Tony "Hook" Hoelscher was born on August 26, 1959, to Richard and Donna (Schwabe) Hoelscher, at St. Anthony Hospital of Carroll, Iowa. Tony was baptized and confirmed in his faith at St. Martin’s Catholic Church of Odebolt, Iowa. He received his education and graduated from Odebolt-Arthur High School with the class of 1977.
After graduation, Tony went on to further his education at Iowa Central Community College. He left college to return home to Odebolt and help with the family grocery store, Super Valu.
In 1981, Tony married Keli Spangler and the couple were blessed with a daughter Heidi. The couple later parted ways. Tony worked at, owned, and operated the Odebolt Locker for over 40 years. He is remembered for his delicious pork burgers and excellent service to his community.
Tony treasured his trips to North Carolina to visit his daughter Heidi and her family. He loved spending time with his two grandchildren, Lilli and Bentley, taking family retreats to the Inn at Okoboji, and hanging out with family and friends. In his spare time, Tony liked watching sports, playing darts, cards, pool, and listening to music.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Heidi and husband Kevin Petty of Clayton, North Carolina; grandchildren Lilli and Bentley Petty; mother Donna Hoelscher of Odebolt, Iowa; siblings Tom (Carolyn) Hoelscher and Beth (Jason) Wulf both of Odebolt, Iowa; nieces and nephews: Dallas (Courtney) Hoelscher of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Dayton Hoelscher of Ida Grove, Iowa; Jake (Olivia) Wulf of Solon, IA and Josie and Jed Wulf of Odebolt, Iowa; great nieces Madeline and Kendall Hoelscher of Cedar Falls; special friend Chris Zimbelman of Odebolt, IA; aunts, uncles and a host of friends.
Tony was preceded in death by his father Richard “Dick” Hoelscher; and maternal and paternal grandparents.
