Heart Attack Fatal For Mrs. Wilken
Mrs. Ferdinand Wilken, 65, died at their home northwest of Wall Lake Friday morning. The family reported she was in fairly good health and upon awakening, Friday morning complained of feeling ill. A short time later she suffered a heart attack, which was fatal.
Funeral services were held at Peace Lutheran church in Wall Lake at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, December 7, 1964. The Rev. 0. E. Weiss officiated. Music was provided by a quartet, Leland Weitzel, Don Becker, Roland Erickson. Mrs. Carl Gonnerman and Mrs. Orville Herrig arranged the flowers.
Nephews of Mrs. Wilken who were attendants included John H. Gosch, Eugene Gosch, Wayne Herrig, and Frederick Wilken. Burial was in the Wall Lake cemetery.
Edna Maria Ida, the daughter of John Gosch and his wife Maria Fleck Gosch, was born July 28, 1899, in Levey Township on a farm about five miles west of Wall Lake It was here that she grew up and attended rural school. She was married to Ferdinand Wilken on December 20, 1922. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Ad. Schwidder. The young couple moved to a farm five- and one-half miles northwest of Wall Lake where they had lived; all of the children, two boys, and one girl, all of whom survive. They are Russell of Odebolt, Paul of Wall Lake, and Joan, Mrs. Reynod Petersen, Sac City.
Mrs. Wilken was baptized in early infancy and later renewed her baptismal vow in the rite of Confirmation at Peace Lutheran, Wall Lake Mrs. Wilken was an active and faithful member of Peace congregation until the time of her sudden death. She was active in the Ladies Aid and held various offices in this organization.
She is survived in addition to the husband and the three children by ten grandchildren; one sister, Elsie, Mrs. George Mumm, West Side; and three brothers, William, Robert, and Arthur, all of Wall Lake. Brothers and sisters preceding her in death were Fred, Edward, Albert, John Gosch, and Lorena, Mrs. Albert Fluehr. Her parents and a grandson, Neil Wilken also preceded her in death
