John Peterson
March 12, 1941 - July 7, 2019

John Henry Peterson, age 78, of Lake View, IA, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2019, at Loring Hospital in Sac City, IA. John was born on March 12, 1941, near Wall Lake, IA, to John Andrew (Andy) and Violet Vere (Thau) Peterson. He attended school in Odebolt and graduated with the class of 1961.

John enlisted in the United States Army on November 19, 1963, training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, and served overseas in France for a little over a year. He earned the rank of SP4 and was awarded the Marksmanship Award. John was honorably discharged on October 29, 1965.

When John returned from his military service, he worked on the family farm, drove truck for Reiter Feed in Wall Lake as well as for National Oats Company. He then went to work for Hanson Silo Company out of Lake View and later drove truck for Hallett Materials Company. In 2011, John entered Blackhawk Life Care Center, where he resided until his death.

John’s favorite hobby was working on his blue ’67 Chevelle SS. He loved anything Chevy, hunting, fishing, and picking on the girls at the care center. He was a member of Eilert-Auen American Legion Post No. 133, of Lake View.

He is survived by his nieces, nephews, many great-nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, Andy and Violet Peterson; sisters: Virginia Pilloud and Vynola Brotherson; brothers: Alan (Buck) Peterson and Marvin Peterson.
