Miller, Gerald
July 5, 1932 - January 18, 2019Gerald Ralph Miller, 86, entered into rest on January 18th, 2019, in his own home surrounded by family.
A celebration of life was held March 23rd at the United Methodist Church of Odebolt.
Gerald "Jerry" was born July 5th, 1932 in Alexandria, SD. He graduated from Schleswig school in 1951. He served in the Korean War from 1952-1954.
October 1, 1955 he married the love of his life, Mildred. To this union four daughters were born; Candra, Christine, Carna, and Cheryl. Gerald's greatest joy was his family.
Gerald was always working. He spent many years at the local service stations as well as at Sac County Mutual Telephone for 16 years. Upon retirement, Jerry ran a windshield repair business, tilling service and green house, and enjoyed fixing wrecked cars. Jerry's love was his garden.
Gerald was very active in the community. His memberships included; Schaller VFW, Odebolt American Legion, Odebolt Fire Department - retired - and the Odebolt Methodist Church.
Jerry was a lifelong resident of Odebolt, IA. He enjoyed watching traffic and chatting with the "Liar's Club" for coffee time. Gerald was always known for a good joke and a smile on his face.
Left to cherish his memory are three daughters, Candra (Randy) Irons, Christine (Henry) DeMan, and Cheryl VanArsdol, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren; two sisters: Millie Lill and Ina Knop. Gerald was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Mildred, a daughter, Carna, his parents, and seven siblings.
