Anna Mae Aneweer
June 12, 1933 - February 21, 2019Anna Mae Aneweer, the daughter of Fred and Anna (Lamaak) Werkmeister, was born June 12, 1933, in Sac County, IA. She was baptized on September 29, 1940, in Wall Lake, IA, at her parent's home and confirmed on May 16, 1948, in the Peace Lutheran Church of Wall Lake. Anna Mae grew up in the Odebolt area and received her education in the country school system.
Anna Mae went to work at a young age in the Odebolt Bakery. One day Anna Mae and her dear friend decided to go on an adventure. This adventure took them to Colorado and California. Looking for work the young ladies made their way back to Cedar Falls, IA, where Anna Mae worked for a short time at a car dealership before starting her career as a waitress. One night at the Electric Park Dance Hall in Waterloo, IA, Anna Mae met the love of her life, Roger Aneweer, and on May 27, 1966, the couple were united in marriage in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. The couple made their home in Cedar Falls and Anna Mae worked for the Blackhawk Cafe in Cedar Falls for 33 years before retiring. After retiring, in February of 1997, they relocated during a snow storm to Odebolt, IA.
Anna Mae enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cards, dancing, reading, word searches, riding her bicycle, walking, and visiting with friends.
Left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 52 years, Roger Aneweer of Odebolt, IA; Roger's son Daniel (Deb) Aneweer of Toledo, IA; sister Phyllis Kluver of Kiron, IA; sister-in-law Betty Werkmeister of Pocahontas, IA; cousins Mary Ann Henry of Cedar Falls, IA and Larry (Nadine) Werkmeister of Cedar Falls, IA; 7 nieces, 6 nephews; great nieces and great nephews; extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Anna Werkmeister, sisters Lorna Werkmeister and Dorothy (Willis) Babcock; brothers Arnold (Nancy) Werkmeister and Alvin Werkmeister; and several nieces and nephews.
