Mildred Rastovac, 88, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, February 15, 2013 at St Paul Presbyterian Church in Johnston of which she was a charter member. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery.

Mildred was born in Johnston and lived there most of her life. She was a graduate of Johnston Consolidated School and then graduated from Mercy School of Nursing in 1947. She served as an Army nurse from 1951-1955 and was stationed in Puerto Rico during the Korean War. The balance of her nursing career was spent at VA Medical Center in Des Moines until she retired in 1981. Her joy in life was helping others.

Mildred is survived by her sisters Angie Marlowe of Mason City, Dorothy Oakman of Lake View and Mary Jane (William) Van Maren of LaCrosse, WI. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sisters Eva Fraizer and Viola Rastovac.

Mildred's family wishes to thank all the care givers and staff at Bishop Drumm and Mercy Hospice for their loving care. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
