Obituary – D. G. Daniels
David George, son of James M. and Agnes Daniels, was born January 7, 1879, in Louisa county, Illinois, and passed away October 14, 1957, in his sleep at his home in Mount Ayr. He was 78 years, nine months, and seven days of age.

On August 25, 1899, he was united in marriage with Lottie Dunahoo in Ringgold County. Of this union were born five children – Laura (Mrs. Floyd Laird) of Mystic; Ival L. Daniels of Kingman, Arizona; Pearl (Mrs. Dwight Johnson); and Roy of Mt. Ayr, and Ethel Marie (Mrs. Lyman Baker), who preceded him in death on November 25, 1927. Mr. Daniels and his family moved in March 1922 from Kellerton to Mount Ayr and here the wife and mother passed away on June 19, 1952.
Mr. Daniels and Mrs. Edna Bagley were united in marriage on July 20, 1955, and their home was established in Mount Ayr.
“Dave” as he was familiarly known by young and old, served for twenty years, prior to which he was employed by the county and state. At the time of his death, he was a candidate for mayor of Mount Ayr at the election to be held November 5th.
He was a loving husband and father, a good neighbor and friend and was devoted to his family and grandchildren and always interested in their welfare.
Left to cherish his memory are his widow Edna, two daughters, two sons, two stepchildren, Paul Bagley of Leon and Mrs. Jack Pitts, of Hollywood, Calif.; two brothers E.F. Daniels of Kansas City, Kansas and R. H. Daniels of Twin Falls, Idaho; two sisters Mrs. Sadie Barkhurst of Rawlins, Wyo., and Mrs. Jesse Skinner of Mount Ayr; twelve grandchildren; twenty seven great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; other relatives and a legion of friends, by whom he will be sadly missed.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon from the Rhoades Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Clifford Gerard. Pall bearers were James Mahan, George Jackson, Clarence Walter, Leo Stuck, Clyde Trullinger and C. E. Hoover. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
