Obituary – Mrs. Kizzie Pollard
Kizzie Jane Griffin was born December 13, 1882, on a farm near Milo, Iowa, and died June 30, 1961, in the Decatur County Hospital in Leon at the age of 78 years, six months and 17 days.
She grew to womanhood in the old Plainville Chapel neighborhood where she met and married Grover C. Pollard on February 15, 1911. To this union were born three children: Evelyn, Ferne, and Howard. The family had lived in Derby, Iowa, Eagleville, Missouri, and in Kellerton since 1933.
At an early age she joined the Methodist Church and continued a faithful member wherever she lived as long as she was physically able. She was completely happy with her family and grandchildren around her.
She enjoyed people and took an interest in all school and church affairs. She was a wonderful wife and mother, and the physical and spiritual welfare of her family was her every thought. She anticipated meeting her Maker and those gone before her when the time came. She will be greatly missed in her home and among her neighbors.
Her husband, parents, twin sisters, and a brother preceded her in death.
Left to memorialize her departure are the three children-Mrs. Glen Sissel of Kellerton, Mrs. Gerald Gleason of Des Moines, and Howard Pollard of Merced, California: six grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Eva Haverly of Hart, Mich,: other relatives and many friends.
Services were held July 2, from the Kellerton Methodist Church conducted by the Rev, Richard T. Hohl. Her body was laid to rest in the Maple Row Cemetery at Kellerton.
