MARGURITE SOWARDS

Margurite Priest Sowards, daughter of Elton and Frances Priest, was born March 11, 1943, near Shannon City in Union County, Iowa, and departed this life October 27, 1970, in St. Joseph, Mo., at the age of 27 years, seven months and 16 days.

She attended school at Tingley and in 1962 graduated from the Grand Valley Community High School in Kellerton.

In 1950, she was baptized into the Christian Church in Tingley and after moving to Kellerton, she transferred her membership to the Methodist Church.

Left to mourn are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elton Priest of Kellerton; two brothers in law and sisters, Richard and Gertrude Jennings of Loveland, Colorado and Paul and Louis Calhoun of Atlantic; two brothers and sisters in law, Bill and Bonnie Priest of Mount Ayr and Gerald and Roberta Priest of Northglenn, Colo.; her grandfather, W. E. Priest of Decatur; ten nieces and nephews ; a number of aunts, uncles and cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held October 30 from the Rhoades Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Sheridan Mallott. Music was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Francis McDowell, vocalists, and Mrs. Weldon Meadows, organist. Casket bearers were Leroy Merritt, Dick Priest, Frankie Eighme, Carl Lee Priest, Dale Priest and John Priest. Burial was in the Tingley Cemetery.
