FERGUSON, Ira Edward

Ira Edward Ferguson, son of Hugh and Birdie Ferguson, was born August 22, 1907 at Clearfield, Iowa, and passed away at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr, Iowa on September 5, 1992. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, George, and one sister, Winifred Whisler.

Ira's family moved to the Tingley area when he was a young boy. He joined the United Presbyterian Church in Tingley on April 2, 1921 and was a life-long member. He graduated from Tingley, High School in 1928. Shortly after that he began his trucking career. He retired from this business in 1978. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the American Legion.

On September 11, 1941, Ira was united in marriage with Reta Berniece Garland. They were the parents of three sons: Danny Edward of Des Moines, Iowa, Richard Ira of Maryville, Missouri and Gregory Allan of Olathe, Kansas.

Those who survive include his wife, Berniece; his three sons and their families: Danny and Mary and their two children, Danee and Darin, Richard and Jane and their three children, Scott, Clint and Nicholas, and Gregory and Rhonda and their three children, Sarah, Andrea and Mitchell; a sister-in-law, Iola Pritchard and her family; two brothers-in-law, Dick and Dean and families; other relatives and friends and neighbors.

Memorial Services were, held at the United Presbyterian Church in Tingley, Iowa, September 10, 1992 conducted by Rev Peter Brantner. Music was provided by Donna Morrison and Becky Gordon. Graveside services were held at the Tingley Cemetery for the immediate family.

Memorial contributions are directed to the United Presbyterian Church, Tingley, Iowa.
