Obituary - Frank Chandler

Glen Frank Chandler, son of Alva K. and Mary Chandler, was born August 27, 1891, in Ohio, Ill., and departed this life December 10, 1955, at the Clarinda Hospital at the age of 64 years, three months and 13 days, after suffering a heart attack. He had been hospitalized since July 22 of this year.

As a small boy he moved to Iowa, attended the Kellerton school and graduated with the class of 1910. He attended Iowa State College at Ames and was a member of the Methodist church in Kellerton.

On March 24, 1914, he was united in marriage with Oy Violet Jackson, of Toulon, Ill., and to this union was born one son, Herman Ross.

Mr. Chandler was a lover of purebred stock and showed them all over the United States and Canada. It was a great shock to him when he had to leave the farm after suffering a heart attack. In the fall of 1945 he moved to Kellerton and in 1952 removed to Mt. Ayr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.

He leaves to mourn his death his wife, Oy; his son, Herman and wife, Ruth; two grandchildren, Cynthia and Douglas Chandler; a sister, Dr. Zelpha Chandler, of Piney Woods, Miss., and a brother, Clayton Chandler, of Lake Geneva, Wis.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, December 14, from the Rhoades Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. C. W. Woollard, Mrs. Arla McDowell and Mrs. Nadine Myers sang, accompanied at the organ by Margaret Pence. Casket bearers were A. J. Goodell, Orr Allen, Harold Clough, Floyd Foltz, Leo Gibson and Clifford Allen. Interment was in the Maple Row Cemetery at Kellerton.
