Sandy Campbell
April 23, 1938 ~ December 4, 2019 (age 81)

Obituary From Watson Armstrong Funeral Home site

Sandra Sue (Virden) Campbell was born April 23, 1938 in Kellerton, Iowa to Rollo Francis and Fornola Maxine (Higday) Virden.

Sandy was united in marriage on October 7, 1959 to Larry Joe Campbell in Denver, CO. To this union was born three sons: Kurtis Lyn, Kevin Lee, and Darren Ray.

Sandy lived all of her life in the Kellerton area. She operated her own beauty salon for 33 years. In August of 1988, she went to work as the Office Manager at the Truck Driving Academy in Lamoni, IA, where she worked until it closed. In December 1997, she went to work for the Clarke County State Bank in Osceola, IA; retiring in October 2009. For the past 2 ½ years, she has worked at the Neighborhood Center in Mount Ayr; which she really enjoyed!

Sandy was baptized into the Kellerton United Methodist Church at an early age where she has continued to be an active member. She has been Past President of the U.M.W.; a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star #478 where she served as Past Worthy Matron, Conductress, Associate Conductress, All Star Point, and continued to be the treasurer until 2002 when the chapter closed. She has been a member of the Kellerton Legion Auxiliary #676 for over 30 years until disbandment. Sandy still took her family to the Maple Row Cemetery every Memorial Day where they placed over 178 small flags on graves.

In September 2001, she started playing the organ every Sunday at the Methodist Church. Her church sister, Camille Jackson, played piano as she played organ. She continued playing there until the 1st of this year when she had to discontinue.

Sandy was so proud of her children and grandchildren (which she really enjoyed)! She was so proud of her oldest grandchild, Casey, when he became so interested in piano, as he seemed to have a natural talent for music.

Sandy passed away at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr on December 4, 2019. She was preceded in death by her father in September 1986; mother in April 1993; and youngest sister, Stephanie Beck in August 2001.

Survivors include her sons Kurt & wife Clara of Osceola, IA, Kevin of Mount Ayr, and Darren & wife Janette of Mount Ayr; grandchildren Casey Campbell, Cacia (Chris Key) Foote, Erin Campbell; step-granddaughters Kimberly Reaves and Makenzie (Brock) Still; great grandchildren Calyssa and Delayna Key; step-great grandchildren Kambreigh & Aspen Still; sisters Linda (Harold) Foland of Osceola, Vicki (Vince) Jackson of Winterset, Mitzi (Gaylen) Tann of Waterloo; brother Douglas Virden of Boone; brother-in-law Larry Beck of Arizona ; aunts Rosalie Draper & Melba Taylor; special friends Mary Davis & Keleta Dunkeson; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many good friends
