D.W. HUDSON was born July 2, 1844, at Marietta, Ohio, and died of hear failure at his home in Pearland, Texas, on March 20, 1903 - his twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. While yet a child he moved with his parents to Stark Co., Ill., where he lived until 1872.
In 1873 he was married to Marilla M. WALM, of Union county, Iowa, who died April 18, 1877. Two children were born to this union - Minnie H. GLENN, of Shannon City, Iowa, and May M. JOHNSTON, of Pearland, Texas - who survive them.
He was married March 20, 1878, to Emma F. BAKER, of Ringgold county, Iowa. Four children were born to this union, three of whom are living. Verne I. HUDSON, of Shannon City, Iowa, and Jay D. and Blanch HUDSON, of Pearland, Texas.
He was one of the early settlers of Ringgold county, Iowa, purchasing his farm on the county line in 1874, which he improved and lived on until his health failed in 1895, when he moved with his family to Pearland, Texas, where he bought and improved property. They were the victims of the great Galveston storm, September 8, 1900, from which he never entirely recovered. Funeral services were held in Pearland, Texas; interment at Pearland cemetery.
