OBITUARY ~ ALLEN E. CASADY
February 16, 1917 ~ July 14, 2011

PLAINFIELD -- Allen E. Casady, 94, of Plainfield, died Thursday, July 14, at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly of natural causes.

He was born Feb. 16, 1917, in Southern Ringgold County, son of Albert and Inez Marshall Casady. He married Helen Ruth Clanton Jan. 12, 1940. She died Feb. 16, 1993. He married Frances Reichert July 24, 1995. She died Nov. 5, 2003.

He graduated from high school in Park Rapids, Minn. Mr. Casady worked in several factories, including John Deere, until 1945. He began running a grading and landscaping business on a farm on Cottage Row in Cedar Falls in 1947. He worked on a farm he purchased north of Plainfield for 14 years, retiring from farming in 1964. Mr. Casady was an insurance agent with Farm Bureau and started an insurance business in 1974, retiring in 1986. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Plainfield.

Survived by: a son, Clyde (Jean) of Plainfield; three daughters, Cleta (Larry) Eick of Pensacola, Fla., Dianne (Dennis) Ihde of Parkersburg and Colleen (Jim) Keysor of Gaylord, Mich.; three stepchildren, James Reichert of Wayzata, Minn., and Steven (Deb) Reichert and Timothy (Janet) Reichert, all of Shell Rock; 11 grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; several stepgreat-grandchildren; and a sister, Grace Messer of Henning, Minn.

Preceded in death by: a daughter in infancy; three sisters, Alta Messer, Vera Hurst and Oletha "Babe" Thiel; and a stepdaughter, Kathy Brooks.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Good Shepherd Chapel of Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community, Waverly, with burial in Willow Lawn Cemetery, Plainfield. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly.
