Thursday, December 20, 2017OBITUARY ~ MARGARET EDNA "MARG" (DAILEY) RHODES
February 04, 1920 ~ December 11, 2017Margaret Edna Rhodes, 5th child of 11 children born to Roy and Gertrude (Davis) Dailey, was born February 4, 1920 in rural Mount Ayr, Iowa. Margaret was baptized in the First Christian Church in Mount Ayr at a young age. Margaret grew up at Mount Ayr and graduated from Mount Ayr High School.
She married Lloyd Rhodes of Cromwell, Iowa and together, they enjoyed many happy years together.
Margaret and Lloyd lived most of their married life in Colorado. She was “one of the best” waitresses around and served in restaurants for many years. Marg and Lloyd also operated apartments too. Marg loved to dance, and Lawrence Welk was among her favorite musicians. She was competitive in cards, was known for “colorful” phrases and had a great memory. She was somewhat of a historian as she could remember names and dates.
Marg loved her many nieces and nephews. Many memories were made visiting their Aunt Marg in Colorado. Marg was compassionate, and she would make cookies and send them to her four brothers and their friends as they served our country in the military. After Lloyd passed away in 1978, Marg returned to Mount Ayr to live out the remainder of her life. Her home in Mount Ayr had an apartment that she rented out over the years.
Marg enjoyed talking on the telephone to her friends and family and was known to write many letters to them as well.
Margaret passed away in her home in Mount Ayr on December 11, 2017.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lloyd; five brothers Harold, Frank Lyle, Jack, Merle, and Howard; two sisters Dorothy Taylor and Darlene Harvey.
She is survived by her brother Donald “Jake” Dailey of Mount Ayr; two sisters Donella Reed of Mount Ayr and Jo Parker of Colorado; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are to the Ringgold County Hospital Ambulance Dept.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at the Armstong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa. Pastor Edward Shields officiated.
