November 17, 1917 ~ November 10, 2017Esta Twyla Deemer, daughter of Clarence and Marie (Price) Walter, was born November 17, 1917 in Mount Ayr, IA. Here Esta grew up and graduated from Mount Ayr High School. On December 11, 1942 Esta was united in marriage to Harold J Deemer in Grant City, MO. Harold and Esta were married nearly 70 years – a life centered around raising four children and farming. They settled in Southern Iowa, farming in Diagonal, Iowa for 11 years before moving to the Kellerton area where they farmed for over 50 years.
Esta’s greatest joy was the holidays when all the family came together. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, reading and doing puzzles.
Esta passed away at Clearview Nursing Home in Mount Ayr on November 10, 2017.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; son, John Deemer; her parents; uncles, Orrie Walter and wife, Dorothy and Homer Walter and wife, Hazel; sisters-in-law Maude Bennett and husband Jesse, Irene Ingram and husband Wes; brothers-in-law Albert Deemer and wife Eva; Frank Deemer; Ralph Deemer and wife Helen; Lester Deemer and wife Wilma; Wayne Deemer; Bob Wehrle, Joe Messina and Jack Keller.
Those left to cherish her memory include son Kenneth Deemer and wife Patricia of Olathe, KS; daughters Katherine Reynolds of Osceola, IA and Patricia Nell and husband Jim of Ankeny, IA; daughter-in-law Nancy Grose of Kellerton, IA; 14 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Helen Wehrle of West Burlington, IA; Wilma Messina of Magalia, CA; Rosalee Keller of Newton, IA; Vera Deemer of Mount Ayr, IA and Dorothy Neal of Garden Grove, IA; cousin Larry Walter of Grimes, IA; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
A memorial fund has been established to HCI Care Services.
Services were held Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa. Officiating was Rev. Terry Roberts.
Songs were “Precious Lord, Take My Hand”, “The Other Side”, and “Go Rest High On That Mountain”.
Casketbearers were Brian Deemer, Scott Deemer, Matt Deemer, Shane Reynolds, Heath Huff, and Christoper Huff. Honorary pallbearers were Lori Kelly, Kerri Jones, Angie Quintana, Jennifer Grose, Shannon Reynolds, Amanda Reynolds, Jessica Steines, and LeAnn Creutzmann.
Esta will be laid at rest at Maple Row Cemetery in Kellerton, Iowa.
