Roxie Jean (Ward) Trullinger, daughter of Ardis L. and Merle L. (Cannon) Ward, was born April 2, 1929, Wiota, Cass County, Iowa. She passed away on June 5, 2017 from complications of diabetes and congestive heart failure at Clearview Home in Mount Ayr, IA. As the oldest of eight children, she learned early on to help care for her younger sisters and brothers. She and her family lived in Wiota, Lorah, Bedford and Delphos, IA.

Roxie graduated from Delphos High School in 1946. Roxie and Doyle Trullinger were married on June 17, 1946, in Atchison, KS. They moved to Molalla, OR and lived there for a brief time. When they returned to Iowa in 1947 they farmed near Delphos and Maloy, IA., later owning farms south of Mt. Ayr until they retired. They lived in Kellerton for a short time before finally becoming residents of Mt. Ayr. As a true farmer’s wife, Roxie helped with the farming operations, raised big gardens, did lots of canning and freezing of the produce, was a great cook and baker of many pies, cakes, homemade ice cream, and cookies. Roxie decorated cakes for weddings and special occasions; she was an avid reader and enjoyed working on crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She was a great sports fan; especially of the St. Louis Cardinals.

Roxie was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister Ruth Monaghan; her brothers Robert Ward, William Ward, Dennis Ward, Thomas Ward, and by her daughter-in-law Gail Trullinger.
