OBITUARY ~ EDITH "ANNE" (CREGEEN) BEAR
Januaey 02, 1940 ~ September 24, 2016

Anne Bear, 76, of Creston, died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016 at the Crest Haven Care Centre in Creston.

Celebration of Life Services will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016 at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Creston. Pastor Tony Thurston will officiate. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, south of Creston.

Open visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with family receiving friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Powers Funeral Home in Creston.

Memorials can be given to the family or Gibson Memorial Library. Online condolences can be given at www.powersfh.com.

Edith Anne Bear, daughter of David Walter Cregeen and Iowa Auriel (Bowman) Cregeen was born January 2, 1940 in Clearfield, Ia. Edith attended Ringgold County Country Schools later graduating Mt. Ayr High School in 1958.

On Oct. 11, 1959, Anne married Gary Ray Bear in Arizona. They first lived and worked in the San Diego, California area. They returned to Iowa. They divorced in 1963. Anne worked for Iowa State Saving Bank in Creston. She then lived in Ames, where she worked for the National Animal Disease Laboratory, working in purchasing. In 1966, she returned to Creston and worked for Arnold Kenyon. Anne went on to work at the Liquor Store in Creston from 1968 to 1975, then managed the Greenfield Liquor Store from 1975 to 1987. She retired after working with the Department of Human Services Creston Office from 1988 to 2008.

Anne is survived by two sons, Brian (wife Kari) Davis of Creston and James (wife Keeley) Davis of Fontanelle; two daughters, Rebecca "Becca" Chambers of Creston and Christina "Christy" Davis of Cameron, Missouri; 5 grandchildren.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter Jewels Chambers.

Powers Funeral Home of Creston was in charge of arrangements.
