OBITUARY ~ IRENE (WADDELL) SPENCER
December 6, 1920 ~ September 23, 2016

Irene Spencer, daughter of Charles Logan and Bertha Odesa (Hammond) Waddell, was born December 6, 1920 at Mount Ayr, Iowa.

On January 15, 1943, Irene was united in marriage to Barton LeRoy Spencer in Louisiana. Irene and Barton would later welcome into the home two daughters, Vicki and Linda.

In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Irene worked at Perry’s Gift Shop in Lamoni; Franklin Spurrier; the Creston motel for 15 years; and in the Hy-Vee delicatessen for 4 years. Irene and Barton traveled after retiring and enjoyed 7 years of going south for the winters. They made Mount Ayr their home and she lived 19 years at Heritage Park. Barton passed away on November 24, 2005.

Irene has been a resident of Clearview Home since 2012. She passed away Friday, September 23, 2016 at the Clearview Home in Mount Ayr.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter Linda Davis; and her 10 siblings Opal Keller Bayman, Pearl Gibons, Alvin Perry Waddell, Charles Ray Waddell, Eva May Deemer, Harry Alfred Waddell, Richard Everett Waddell, Eunice Deemer, Marjorie Marie Priest Warnke and JR Waddell; grandson Travis Case.

Survivors include her daughter Vicki Ambrose (significant other Mike Stephens) of Grimes, IA; 6 grandchildren Tina (Ward) Good, Dustin James Davis, Tammie Olson, David Balius, Lywanda Case and Darrel Case; 9 great grandchildren, Kyrie Jones, Kaela Balius, Jeremiah Olson, Holly Balius, Noelle Balius, Wynter Balius, Josh Case, Spencer Davis Good and Josh Good; 3 great great grandchildren, Khi Ezzard, Miah Jones and DaNia Jones; many nieces and nephews including Sharon Case and Joyce Smith; other relatives and friends.
