OBITUARY ~ LORRAINE (SHARP) CRONE
October 14, 1930 ~ August 02, 2016

Lorraine Crone, daughter of Virgil Leroy and Gladys (Cecil) Sharp, was born October 14, 1930 in North Platte, Nebraska. The family later moved to Ontario, Oregon where she grew up and attended school. Lorraine married Lyle Dean Crone and they had three children, Marla, Leslie and Cathy. The family lived in many places in the state when Lyle worked on construction, finally settling in the Eugene and Springfield area.

Lorraine began her married life as a mother and homemaker. In later years after Lyle was hurt in a construction accident, she went to work as a food waitress, cocktail waitress and eventually as a bar manager to help support the family. Lyle passed away in February of 1980. In the mid 80s Lorraine moved to San Diego, California where Cathy was stationed with the U. S. Navy.

When Cathy and family moved to Iowa in 1993, Lorraine also came, to help with and be around her younger grandchildren. All her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Lorraine lived in the Diagonal and Mount Ayr area until recently, when she became a resident of the Afton Care Center, Afton, Iowa.

Lorraine passed away at Greater Regional Medical Center, Creston, Iowa on August 2, 2016 after a short illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law George and Mapel Crone, husband Lyle, and siblings, Fern, Warren, Virginia and Dudie.

Survivors include her children; Marla (Robert) Meyers and Leslie Crone of Springfield, OR; Cathy (Kevin) Kilgore of Diagonal, IA; Grandchildren; Matt (Patricia) Meyers and Michelle (Bob) Goggin, all of Springfield, OR; Darin (Cindy) Goins of Creston, IA; Ryan (Karen) Lindblom of New Oxford, PA; Paul (Alexandra) Kilgore of Fort Sill, OK and Sean Kilgore of Yokosuka, Japan; great grandchildren, Lydia Goins, Kade Goins, Hailey Lindblom and Brayden Lindblom; two sisters, Faye Spidal of Beaverton, OR and JoAnn O’Dell of Ontario, OR, plus many other relatives and friends.

Lorraine has been cremated and inurnment will be at a later date at the Forest Grove Cemetery, Forest Grove, OR where many other family members have been laid to rest.
